If you're preparing for the DSST exam, one of the key questions is when and how your scores will be reported to your school.
You have the option to send your scores directly to your college or university after completing the exam.
However, it’s crucial to ensure that Prometric receives your Institutional Score Report Recipient Code.
The method Prometric uses to receive your code depends on where you took the exam.
You have three options for scheduling your DSST exam:
Testing at a College or University
You can take your DSST exam at a participating college or university. Register through Prometric TC Net at your campus.
Testing at a Prometric Test Center
You can register online and take your exam at a physical Prometric test center with a proctor.
Testing Online
You can also choose to take your DSST exam online from the comfort of your home by registering through Prometric’s website.
Institutional Score Report Recipient Code
You must know your college's Institutional Score Report Recipient Code and ensure Prometric receives it.
Once Prometric receives your institution's score report code, they will forward your results to your institution for free.
In this blog, we’ll walk you through the process of sending your DSST scores to your college or university.
What is an Institutional Score Report Recipient Code?
An Institutional Score Report Recipient code is a four-digit number assigned to each college or university.
When you provide this code to Prometric, they can identify your institution and forward your exam results to the correct place.
If you’re unsure of your school’s code, you can find a list of codes here.
Alternatively, you can contact us at support@dssttestprep.com, and we'll be happy to help you locate your school's code.
Testing at a College or University
If you're taking the DSST exam at a college or university, the process for sending your scores is simple.
You’ll be prompted to enter a four-digit score recipient code assigned to your college or university during registration.
This code is critical because it tells Prometric where to send your test results.
Enter Your Institutional Score Report Recipient Code (See Below)
You can complete the registration process through your institution’s DSST portal here.
Once you take your exam, the scores will automatically be sent to the school associated with the code you provided.
However, remember that this process is not instantaneous—it generally takes 1-3 weeks for your school to receive the scores.
Testing Through Prometric (Online or at a Test Center)
The process is different for those taking the DSST exam directly through Prometric, either online or at a test center.
When you take your DSST exam through Prometric, you won’t have the option to enter your Institutional Score Report Recipient Code during the registration process.
Instead, after completing the test, you'll need to contact Prometric at 1-877-471-9860.
Provide your school’s four-digit code, and Prometric will send your exam results to your institution at no additional cost.
The delivery process typically takes 1-3 weeks.
Currently, there’s no option to expedite your scores.
I Have Very Limited Time—Can My Scores Be Sent on the Same Day?
Unfortunately, DSST scores are not sent on the same day, regardless of how you take the exam.
Even if you provide your school code during registration or contact Prometric directly after your test, the process of sending scores will still take 1-3 weeks.
Currently, there is no option to expedite the DSST score reporting process.
What Can I Do If I Need My Scores Urgently?
If you’re working with a tight deadline and need your DSST scores as quickly as possible, it’s best to contact your school directly.
Explain your situation to the appropriate office, and they may be able to offer a temporary solution.
Some schools may accept unofficial scores until the official ones arrive, so it’s worth discussing your options with them.
Conclusion
While the DSST exam is a great way to earn college credit, it’s important to plan ahead for getting your scores sent to your school.
Whether you take the exam at your college or through Prometric, expect a 1-3 week waiting period for your scores to be delivered.
Have your school’s four-digit code ready to ensure your scores are sent to the correct institution.
